It’s been almost three weeks since I came back here in the Philippines. I saw lots of my friends, ate every food that I craved for and went to places I have missed so much. Strolling inside the malls made me realize I’m now outdated when it comes to my gadgets. Hehe.. Although I see lots of techie stuff in Germany I wasn’t really eager to buy a new cell phone or a laptop since I don’t see any advantage from buying new ones. I’m a stay at home mom and I only get to text hubby once a day or even not at all. Practicality is in my mind because of the high cost of living and I don’t have a job anymore. So no more techie stuff for me. But when I saw the cell phones here on sale and of my former colleagues I was kinda envious. You see, when I was here I used to buy latest models of cell phones minding a little of their cost. Just thinking of having a new one and not even maximizing its features. That’s why now I’m kind of wishing that hubby would give me a Christmas gift. A tablet maybe? 🙂 He could check out Cyber Week for cheap deals. I saw laptops, digital SLR camera (still praying to have one), gaming consoles and much more. I know hubby will also be thinking of buying a new stuff for him when sees this. Hehe..

What do you think is your physical asset? What’s your favorite part of your body as a whole? Me, I like my eyes. I think they are my assets and many think so too (modesty aside). And what do you do to your asset? You make it more beautiful, right? I like putting eye shadow on them and eye liner to give emphases. And last time I bought a mascara for my eyelashes. I was not used to using mascara but I noticed that most women here use it. It seems their make up is not complete without it. They differ in color and could either add volume or length to your eyelashes. I wish I have long eyelashes. It’s kind of hard to put mascara on short lashes. I always tend to accidentally dab some on my eyelids while putting it. I wish to try some eyelash growth products to enhance my asset. I know my eyes could be more expressive and its roundness will be emphasized!
Eyelash growth products must be thoroughly tested since it could affect our sense of sight. Though we want these kinds of enhancers we should be aware of their long-term effects on our health.
I’m home… But not for the same reason I originally planned. I got nervous last Saturday when SIL sent me a message in Facebook to go online in Skype because she had to tell me something about my mom. She then informed me that my dad called my brother crying and said that mom wasn’t waking up. Brother came to our home with an ambulance and sent her to the hospital. Good thing mom finally woke up but unresponsive. My mom had a stroke again. She can’t talk, can’t eat and with just a blank stare and expression on her face. Now she has to eat thru a tube passing thru her nose. Of all the many strokes that my mom had, I can say that this is the worst. Sunday I booked a flight to Manila. Everybody can understand why I had to go home. Eventually the inevitable will happen, we just don’t know when and I don’t want to come home with mom not seeing me anymore.
From the airport I came straight to the hospital. My dad was surprised, first when he saw my mother-in-law visiting at 12midnight. He then stared at me for a few seconds and cried when he finally recognized me. He didn’t know I’ll come home because only me, my brother and in-laws knew my plan. Mom saw me, and just stared. Then I introduced myself, asked her if she still recognize me. I told my name over and over and over, telling her “Andito na ‘ko, Ma. Di ba huling usap natin sabi nyo umuwi na ‘ko?” (I’m already here, Ma. Isn’t it the last time we talked you told me to come home?”) And then she cried. I can’t cry. I can’t show my weakness to someone who needs my strength.
If you ask me how’s my relationship with my mom, I’ll tell you it was not good. Like what they say, “Same poles repel”. We are the same. We have the same attitude. We are both sensitive but tactless. We both know how each others’ minds work maybe that’s why we always clash. I’d say maybe we just never appreciated what we did for each other or… we just didn’t know how to show it. I don’t know why… Maybe because of the manner of discipline she used on us. I feared her. That’s why we never had that mother-daughter relationship. I usually envy those I see on TV where moms and daughters are best friends. There were no communication. And as I grow up I would always say I’ll never be like her. Yes, it was that bad.
I remember what one of my older officemates told me when I opened up my problem with my mom, “When you become a mom, you’ll know.” When I became a full-time mom I realized how hard it is. You wanted everything right. You wanted everything that’s best for your children. You would not do anything that could hurt them. That’s what mom did. She cooked delicious food (which unfortunately I did not learn) for us and was the best! Washed our clothes meticulously, she doesn’t want us not to look good in public. Her strictness, although made us fear her gave our lives a direction. We finished studies and did not go astray. This is what I am most thankful for. Although it may not be the way I would have wanted, still I’m thankful that my life went well while I’m with her. I think the most important thing that we missed to have in our relationship is communication and that’s what I’m trying to do with my kids. I’m doing my best to have a good relationship with them, as a mom and as a friend.
Appreciation, I think is one of the most important things we forget to do especially to our parents. We tend to take them for granted thinking that they will always be there for us. For me, now is the best time to show my appreciation to my mom. Her condition is now stabilized. I know this could be late what with wasted 34 years with her. I only have three weeks to stay here. But three weeks will never be too short to start again for a better relationship.
Finally I was able to take a picture of the two trees I’ve posted in Green Monday. Too bad, I didn’t get to see what they look like during the start of autumn. The leaves have already turned brown.
These two pictures were taken exactly a week apart. Indeed winter is just around the corner.
I can’t help but take pictures of trees nowadays coz of the beautiful autumn colors they radiate around us. Although I’m already late because most of the leaves now either had fallen or turned brown, still they look beautiful to me.
Hello once again! Welcome to another Weekend Blog Follower Caravan. This blog of mine hasn’t been active lately so I have decided to join this week. Our task is GFC follow. My widget’s on the sidebar so feel free to stalk me. 🙂
Weekend Blog Follower Caravan is a simple online blogger-helping-blogger weekly meme. It was designed for bloggers to help each other in terms of blog followers either through Google Friend Connect and email subscribers.
Hmm… Am I at the wrong meme? I know, the leaf’s yellow but still the background’s colored brown. Hehe.. 🙂 We went to the playground last Tuesday to let the kids (and ourselves) play. I also wanted to go back to the park where I took a shot of the two trees I once posted for Green Monday. Unfortunately, a group was playing this old sport (I still have to recall or might as well go back to read again what’s written on a board near the entrance of the park) in between the trees. I have been persuading the kids to go to the playground again but to no avail. I hope tomorrow, the kids will “let me play”.
Hubby took this and gave it to me because he knows I want to have pictures taken this Autumn. He took another two for the kids. I wonder from what tree this leaf came from…
Last Sunday we went to Nördlingen, a town in the state of Bavaria, 40kms from our place. Hubby took an aerial shot of it when he had a plane ride with his officemate several weeks ago. He was fascinated by its structure that’s why we decided to have a tour of the city.
Nördlingen is one of the three remaining towns in Germany with still established city walls. City walls or defense walls which were built to protect a city from its aggressors. The city was a place of two battles during the Thirty Years War, the Battle of Nördlingen in 1634 and 1645.
The map of Nördlingen mounted on Reimlinger Tor where we entered. Notice that the city is circular in shape? That’s because Nördlingen is located in the center of a meteorite crater called the Nördlinger Ries.
The City Wall Museum was closed. We could have seen a glimpse of the city’s history, the uniforms, probably some images of the battles, and a view of the crater from the Daniel’s tower.
We’ll be back next time to this place. I want to climb up that tower to see the town’s beauty, top view!
